LONGMONT, Colo. — The wife of 80-year-old Gary Hockaday couldn't find her husband after she arrived back at the couple's Longmont home Thursday evening.
Searching for her husband inside the house, she came upon blood on the carpet and called police, according to a release from the Longmont Police Department.
Police arrived at the couple's home, located at 2200 block of Jewel Street, and found the slain body of Hockaday and also discovered that the couple's pickup truck was stolen.
Moments later, a call about a suspicious vehicle at East Point Mini Storage led authorities to a storage shed where 29-year-old Isaiah Ismael Rios was found along with the stolen truck.
SWAT officers arrested Rios without incident, the release read. Police are accusing Rios of Hockaday's murder as he burglarized the couple's home.
Police said Rios was also charged in two additional burglary investigations.
The investigation into Jewel Street incident is ongoing. Authorities have not released Rios' booking photo at this time.
