DENVER — Denver police have arrested a juvenile male in connection to Tuesday’s shooting near Cole Middle School, where a 14-year-old boy was shot.

The Denver Police Department said it arrested the suspect juvenile overnight. He is being held for investigation of aggravated assault, the department said Wednesday morning.

The 14-year-old boy who was shot was still in critical condition as of 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, said Simon Crittle with Denver Health.

On Tuesday afternoon, officers responded to the 3200 block of N. Marion Street after receiving a report of a possible shooting. Police said the shooting happened outside, but close to, the Denver middle school. The department identified a juvenile suspect later that day, but did not give any other information. It is unclear if the boy who was shot was a student at the middle school.
