JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. – A Jefferson County PE teacher was arrested early Wednesday on suspicion of sex assault after he was found with a 17-year-old runaway girl in Pine.

Deputies responded to a call of a runaway teen at around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday. They were able to find the teen at a family-owned cabin in Pine shortly after midnight, but she wasn’t alone.

Michael Steven Bueno, 47, was also at the cabin, according to Jenny Fulton, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies also found several open alcohol containers inside the cabin.

Bueno was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a class four felony.

Jefferson County deputies added an additional charge of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, a class 3 felony, on Wednesday.

Bueno is a PE teacher at West Jefferson Middle School and an assistant coach at Conifer High School.

Bond has not yet been set in this case.
