DENVER — Police in Denver announced late Tuesday that an investigation into the disappearance of 7-year-old Jordan Vong has turned into a death investigation. Jordan's body was found after a day-long search.
Denver Police Chief Paul Pazen made the announcement during a press briefing after officers served a search warrant at the family’s home Tuesday evening in the area of Chambers Road and Bolling Drive in the Montbello neighborhood.
Chief Pazen did not say how the boy died or where his body was found. He said it's too early to call the death a homicide at this time and declined to answer questions about possible suspects.
Jordan was last seen around 4:30 p.m. Monday. Marika Putnam with the police department said when officers arrived at the scene, they learned the child had been missing for a few hours already.
Pazen said a family member reported the child missing, but he did not identify the reporting party.
On Tuesday, the FBI came in to assist with the search as Denver police sought a search warrant to gain access to the family’s home.
Later in the evening, crime scene investigators were seen taking photos outside the home and detectives wearing gloves went in. Police did not disclose what was found inside.
