Homicide investigation underway after man is shot near Children’s Hospital in Aurora

AURORA, Colo. – A homicide investigation is underway in Aurora following a shooting near the Children’s Hospital Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.

Around 8 p.m. Thursday, Aurora police responded to the scene — near the intersection of E. 19th Avenue and N. Oswego Street, about five blocks west of the medical campus — and found a 24-year-old man unconscious on the ground. He was bleeding.

He was transported to a hospital, but police said about 30 minutes later, the man succumbed to his injuries.

Police are investigating, but said as of 12:30 a.m. Friday, they did not know what led to the shooting. They did not yet have suspect information.

This is the fourth crime-related death in Aurora within the past 24 hours.
