DENVER — After a lengthy search for the suspected driver behind a fatal hit-and-run near Coors Field on Aug. 26, police arrested an Aurora man over the weekend, charging him on Tuesday.

Denver District Attorney Beth McCann announced formal charges of leaving the scene of an accident and vehicular homicide against Adrian Escalante.

Charges allege Escalante hit and killed 26-year-old Steven Glade while speeding at 20th and Blake in a black Land Rover.

Escalante has a lengthy criminal record with previous felony convictions of assault and trespassing.

Escalante will appear in court on Sept. 27 for another hearing.

About the victim

Steven Glade is a graduate of Colorado State University with a degree in chemistry. He worked as a person who tested medical marijuana for potentcy and pesticides.

Steven’s brother, Jim Glade, told Denver7 his brother was “super funny and super smart,” and “kind of the life-of-the-party type of guy.”

“The guy was the smartest guy—the smartest and nicest guy,” Jim said. “He’s the glue that kept his friends and our family connected. He would be the guy to reach out to you with a phone call and just start talking—like really when there wasn’t any need for it, you know. It was just that comforting thing.”
