DENVER – Two weeks after a man was murdered in the Highlands, there is still no arrest.

Brad Kottke, 48, was shot and killed at the intersection of 25th Street and Grove Street on March 18, according to Denver police. The suspect is still at large.

Denver7 spoke with Kottke’s father, Gordon Kottke, about his son’s murder.

“I was in disbelief,” Gordon Kottke said. “I couldn’t understand how something like that could happen.”
Gordon Kottke told Denver7 he was told by his son’s roommate that Brad was walking home from the grocery store.

“It was just two blocks from his house,” Kottke said. “That’s where he was shot.”

According to Kottke, his son was shot four times.

“The thing that bothers me is that he was shot three times in the front,” Gordon Kottke said. “Then he was shot in the back of the head. That was the kill shot. They didn’t rob him, they didn’t take his wallet or his gold chain or anything.”

Gordon Kottke said his son was rushed to the hospital and put on life support.

“It was at that point that we told them to go ahead and pull the plug,” Gordon Kottke said.

Gordon Kottke lost a son, but his son was able to save lives.

“He was an organ donor,” Gordon Kottke said. “Two people got a kidney, and another person got a liver.”
DPD has not found the suspect yet, and Gordon Kottke says he can't understand why this happened, but has a message for his son’s killer.

“I would ask them why,” Gordon Kottke said. “And then I would explain to the person that everybody loved Brad. They just killed him for the sake of killing him.”
