Father gets 20 years in prison for toddler's death

AURORA, Colo. (AP) — A suburban Denver man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the death of his 17-month-old son.

The Aurora Sentinel reports Romon Enders, who was sentenced Thursday, was convicted in March of reckless child abuse causing death.

Prosecutors say paramedics found Jayden Hernandez unresponsive at Enders' home March 21, 2015, and the boy died of catastrophic brain injuries. He also had multiple bruises all over his body and multiple rib fractures.

Investigators say Enders told them several stories, including that other toddlers in the home caused the injury by standing on Jayden.

Assistant District Attorney Jess Redman said the injuries can't be explained by anything other than a high-speed car accident or a fall from a multi-story building, and neither of those happened.
