EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. – An Ellicott High School teacher has been arrested on a sexual exploitation of a child charge stemming from a child pornography investigation, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

Patrick McMahon, 28, was arrested at Ellicott High School on Monday without incident on the charge and is being held without bond.

The sheriff’s office says the investigation started in December, but it did not release more information about the case on Monday.

Ellicott School District Superintendent Chris Smith said in a statement that McMahon was placed on administrative leave and that the alleged offense did not happen on school property or district time, to his knowledge.

“The District placed Ellicott High School teacher, Patrick McMahon on administrative leave, Smith said in the statement. “To our knowledge the allegations do not pertain to any of our students in Ellicott and did not happen on district property or on district time. Ellicott Schools will be cooperating fully with the investigation.”

The sheriff’s office said it does not currently believe there are additional victims in the case but is asking anyone with more information or anyone who believes they may have been a victim of McMahon’s to contact them at 719-520-6666.

Ellicott is a census-designated place east of Colorado Springs in El Paso County.
