FEDERAL HEIGHTS, Colo. — Authorities are accusing a used car dealership in Federal Heights of odometer fraud.

The owners of AFG Auto Sales, 54-year-old Sedeq Kargar and 47-year-old Naim Kargar, were arrested Thursday and charged with theft and forgery, 17th Judicial District Attorney Dave Young announced in a news release Tuesday.

The brothers are accused of rolling back 2,683,751 miles in 29 vehicles that were sold to unsuspecting customers at their dealership, located at 9270 Federal Boulevard, between April 2015 and August 2018, according to the news release.

Investigators from the DA’s office and the Colorado Department of Revenue reviewed hundreds of individual car sales records before executing a search warrant on the business in August, the release read.

The brothers were each charged with one count of theft of up to $100,000 from 34 named victims and six counts of forgery.

Their first court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 26.
