WESTMINSTER, Colo. — Two people were arrested in connection to a New Year’s Eve stabbing death outside a Circle K in Westminster. Police said a dispute over $40 led to the victim’s death.

Deven Mykol Lamaster and Brett Philip Kalina, both 28, are being charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder and robbery.

The suspects are accused of stabbing to death a man outside a Circle K located at 7584 Sheridan Boulevard around 6:21 p.m. Thursday.

The victim has not been identified.

Through the investigation, police determined the suspects knew the victim and the confrontation appears to have occurred because of a dispute over roughly $40, according to a Westminster Police release.

Lamaster was arrested Sunday after police received a call from the victim’s family indicating they saw Lamaster walking in the area of 72nd Avenue and Raleigh Street. Kalina was picked up by authorities in Decatur, Illinois.

This investigation is still active and ongoing as detectives identify the getaway driver as a person of interest and determine the extent of her involvement. Her identity is not being released at this time pending the application of an arrest warrant.
