DENVER – A woman accused of shooting her husband to death last week allegedly admitted in front of police to doing so, then locking herself and her four children inside the couple’s home.
Roxanne Sanchez-Jaime, 33, was formally charged Monday with first-degree murder and four counts of misdemeanor child abuse.
Denver police were called out to the 16000 block of Randolph Place just before 7 p.m. on Sept. 25 on reports of a shooting.
There, they found Jose Sanchez, 34, dead in the driveway.
Officers had to force the door of the home open, where they found Sanchez-Jaime. She allegedly told the arresting officer she had “shot the mother f---er in the head” while being arrested.
Police took the couple’s four children to the Denver Children’s Advocacy Center to interview them. One of the couple’s 14-year-old children told investigators Sanchez and Sanchez-Jaime were arguing on the front step of the house when Sanchez-Jaime pulled out a gun and shot Sanchez several times, according to a probable cause statement.
Sanchez-Jaime is being held without bond and is scheduled to be advised in District Court Tuesday.
