DENVER — Neighbors say a family of three, found gunned down in a home, on the 1700 block of South Logan Street Wednesday afternoon, were new to the neighborhood.

Police were called to the home in the Platt Park neighborhood, after receiving a request for a welfare check. They said all three appeared to have gunshot wounds.

DPD later tweeted that the death investigation appears to be a domestic-related double murder-suicide involving an adult female, adult male and infant.

On Thursday, friends and neighbors placed flowers on the front step of the house, which the family purchased in September for $790,000.

"They were only there for maybe three weeks or so. They had just moved in. We really never had the opportunity to get to know them at all," said neighbor, Matt McGee.

Residents who live along the block are still grappling with what happened.

"I said 'hi' to their new puppies a couple of times. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. It's just incredibly sad and shocking to hear," said neighbor Philip Lotterhos.

MdGee said, "I didn't hear any gunshots or anything. I would have reported that obviously, but it's horrible. It's just a horrible story."

Investigators returned to the scene late Thursday visiting with next door neighbors.

Denver7 reached out to the realtor who sold the home, to ask if there were any financial issues.

He replied that he was wondering the same thing.

Neighbors said the family was doing some remodeling work done inside.

Authorities have not yet released the names of the victims.

Denver7 has learned that the woman was a nurse at Parker Adventist Hospital.

In an emailed statement, Centura Health said their community is heart-broken over the loss of (the nurse) and her daughter.

"She was instrumental in our COVID-19 response," the statement said.

It added that she had an infectious smile, generous heart and will be deeply missed.
