Denver man allegedly shoots, kills his neighbor and wounds another during argument

DENVER — A Denver man was arrested after a shooting at a Denver Housing Authority complex that left one person dead and another person critically wounded Sunday night.

George Magee, 50, was booked into the Denver Jail on suspicion of first degree murder and attempted first degree murder.

Police were called just before 8 p.m. to Sun Valley Homes complex at West 9th Avenue and Decatur Street on a report of a shooting.

Witnesses told police Magee shot his neighbors, who were playing football outside their home, following an argument the suspect had with the victims, according to police documents.

One of the victims was shot twice and died at the hospital, police said. The second victim was critically wounded and remains hospitalized. Their identities have not been released.

Police located Magee around midnight hiding near a warehouse just west of the complex.
