DENVER — The owner of Lincoln’s Roadhouse wants help catching two burglars who broke into his business after surveillance cameras captured the crooks in action.
James Housley owns Lincoln’s Roadhouse in Denver and said the break-in happened on Monday before 9 a.m.
He said he rushed over after he was alerted of a break-in and found a mess.
Surveillance cameras caught two burglars breaking-in through the back-kitchen door. In the video, one burglar tries to pry open the register and another makes off with bottles of alcohol through the broken back door. Moments later, one crook comes out of a room with a safe and hands it to the other, which walks out the back in broad daylight.
“We are pissed off…we are fighting for Lincoln’s survival,” Housley said.
He estimates thousands of dollars in damage and stolen cash that was in the safe.
“The money was a day’s receipts and tips for our bartenders because we pool together,” Housley said.
Housley has poured more than 20 years of his life into the bar and cafe.
The live music venue has hosted countless blues artists for decades, but that came to a halt with COVID-19. The business was forced to close for several weeks and it’s unclear when he will be able to bring back musicians for live performances, the main attraction for revenue.
“It’s awful to work as hard as we are and struggle as hard as we are and have our building just broken open,” Housley said.
He told Denver7 sales are down and it’s been a fight to keep the doors open. He is asking anyone with information about the two burglars to contact the Denver Police Department.
