FORT MORGAN, Colo. — Colorado State Patrol is looking for a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run early Monday morning that killed a motorcyclist.

Shortly before 2 a.m. Monday, a motorcyclist was involved in a crash along Interstate 76 near milepost 75, on the western side of Fort Morgan, according to Colorado State Patrol.

The call originally came in as a motorcycle that had hit a deer, but CSP then determined it was a hit-and-run.

At 10:47 a.m., CSP tweeted that the crash was fatal. The motorcyclist was identified as a 63-year-old man.

As of then, eastbound traffic was diverted at milepost 73 and could return to the highway at milepost 75.

Authorities are now looking for the suspect vehicle, which is described as a blue Toyota of unknown year and model with an Ehrlich sticker in the back window. The car will have damage to the front passenger side of the bumper. It has a Colorado license plate that includes “777.”

Just before 1 p.m., the CSP said they had possible suspect information. Authorities said they believe the driver is a white or Hispanic man between 40 and 50 years old. He may be between 5 foot, 3 three inches and 5 feet, 6 inches, with a slightly heavy build.
