COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Colorado Springs police officer wounded in an Aug. 2 shooting continues to recover and was moved out of the intensive care unit Monday.
Officer Cem Duzel remains in serious condition at UCHealth Memorial Central Hospital in Colorado Springs and visits to him continue to be restricted to his family and doctors or those with invitations.
“The support and love this department and community has shown to Cem and his family is nothing short of incredible! His family is overwhelmed by the hundreds of cards and the beautiful gifts Cem has received,” the Colorado Springs Police Department said in a statement.
Karrar Noaman Al-Khammasi, 31, is charged with attempted murder of a peace officer after deliberation, felony menacing and a felony weapons count. He is being held on a $1 million bond.
