Colorado man shoots himself while driving; second accidental shooting in Colo. Springs in days

Posted

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – A second Colorado Springs man has accidentally shot himself in a handful of days.

Late Sunday, officers were called out to the YMCA on Jet Wing Drive after receiving a call about a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found that a man had accidentally shot himself while driving along the road. He was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Though he has not been charged or named thus far, this is the second time in less than a week that a Colorado Springs man accidentally shot himself.

Last Thursday, Phillip Terry was charged after he accidentally shot himself, but reported to police that he had been shot in a drive-by in downtown Colorado Springs.

Terry faces prohibited use of weapons and false reporting charges in that incident.
