SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A man accused of cutting up the body of a Colorado woman and hiding her remains in a suitcase after she overdosed on drugs in Utah has pleaded guilty to charges in the case.

The Deseret News reports 50-year-old Raymond Cordova, of Grand Junction, Colorado, pleaded guilty in Utah this week to desecrating human remains and obstructing justice.

Cordova is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 14 but prosecutors are recommending he serve five years in prison. A judge will decide if that will happen after he serves several dozen years in prison in Colorado on drug charges.

Police believe 18-year-old Kelly Myers of Grand Junction overdosed in Utah while visiting with Cordova in December 2014. Her body was found the following February inside a suitcase in a hiking area southeast of Grand Junction.
