BOULDER, Colo. – The Boulder Police Department on Monday released a sketch of the man suspected of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl near the East Boulder Recreation Center last Wednesday.

The sketch gives further detail to a description of the man released last week. The suspect is described as a heavy-set man in his 30s with long black hair and no facial hair. The man was wearing a blue ski jacket and baggy pants last week when the possible assault happened.

Police say he may have been wearing a necklace or a lanyard with keys around his neck.

According to police, the 13-year-old girl met a friend at Keewaydin Park, near Manhattan High School, after school last Wednesday.

Shortly before 5 p.m., she left to walk over to the East Boulder Recreation Center, according to police, when the man came up behind her, grabbed her arm, kissed her, and touched her inappropriately, officers said.

The girl screamed, causing the man to run off. He got into an older, white Audi or Subaru and drove away, police said.

Manhattan Middle School’s principal sent out a letter to families of children at the school after the incident.

Anyone who believes they may know who the suspect is or who has other information about the incident is asked to call Boulder Police Detective Jeremy Frenzen at 303-441-1890. Anonymous tips can be sent to Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
