BOULDER, Colo. — A man has been arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder after allegedly beating up his girlfriend under a bridge.
Police in Boulder arrested Joshua Male, 40, who is accused of assaulting his girlfriend under the bridge near Goose Creek Path and Foothills Parkway on Saturday.
The woman’s mother contacted police shortly before 5 p.m. that day and told them her daughter had been beaten up by her boyfriend. The girlfriend told police Male had become physically violent toward her when they started talking about their living situation. Both of them are homeless.
A man who introduced himself was Pete offered to drive the woman to a safe place.

Male was found shortly after noon on Sunday sleeping near a building in the 2800 block of Wilderness Place. He was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder, second-degree assault, third-degree assault and domestic violence.
He is being held at the Boulder County Jail. A mug shot was not available as of Monday morning.
