BERTHOUD, Colo. – Another Colorado man has been accused of setting a woman on fire, this time in the Town of Berthoud.

Jacob Dean Anderson, 43, is charged with second-degree assault and domestic violence after authorities responded to a home on South County Road 31 in Berthoud.

A 50-year-old woman who called emergency dispatchers told them Anderson set her on fire.

When Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived, they found a detached garage was burning near the home.

Deputies found the woman with significant burn injuries inside the home. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Anderson was found not too far away outside, deputies said.

Berthoud Fire Protection District firefighters were able to extinguish and contain the fire to the detached garage.

Anderson was taken into custody for an outstanding arrest warrant and was also treated for burns to his hands prior to being booked into the Larimer County Jail.

The investigation into this case is ongoing, deputies said.

Second case this month

It’s been only ten days since the month started, but this is the second incident where a man has been arrested for trying to set women aflame.

On Nov. 6, Consepcion Rascon Jr., 36, allegedly set a woman and a teenage family member on fire. He was arrested early Thursday morning.
