Authorities searching for driver accused of hitting Fort Collins cyclist, leaving scene

LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. – Colorado State Patrol is looking for the driver responsible for hitting a cyclist from Fort Collins and driving away Thursday morning on North Overland Trail.

The 23-year-old woman suffered serious injuries in the crash, which happened around 6:30 a.m.

CSP says the woman was cycling northbound in the bike lane on North Overland Trail just north of Laporte Ave. when a vehicle headed in the same direction hit the back of the woman’s bicycle and drove away.

CSP said it does not have a description of the vehicle but said it should have front-end damage. Troopers are looking for witnesses to the crash or anyone who saw any vehicles in the area around the time.
