COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Police in Colorado Springs announced on Sunday that an attempted murder suspect on the run after an alleged shootout with an officer has been arrested.

In a tweet from the department, police wrote they were “happy to confirm that Randy Bishop has been taken into custody.” No other details of his arrest were released.

The 31-year-old Colorado Springs resident allegedly exchanged gunfire with an officer during a traffic stop on Jan. 11. Police say Bishop fled from police on foot after a crash that followed.

In addition to January’s incident, Bishop was wanted on charges for a separate case in December in which he was accused of assaulting a Colorado Springs Police Department detective and taking the detective’s weapon.

Court records show he has outstanding warrants from a robbery in November and a kidnapping and assault case from last June as well.
