Aurora police investigating two attempted child abductions near Mission Viejo neighborhood

AURORA, Colo. – Officers with the Aurora Police Department are investigating two attempted child abductions which occurred in south Aurora over the past week.

In a Wednesday afternoon post on Twitter, Aurora police said both attempted child abductions happened near the Mission Viejo neighborhood.

The first one occurred on Jan. 5 at around 1:30 p.m. Police said a white male tried to grab a 10-year-old girl playing outside. The man was reportedly wearing a black ski mask, with a red/black flannel shirt and jeans.

A week later, on Jan. 12 at around 6 p.m., a bald man with a dark beard and possibly tattoos on his arms tried to grab a 12-year-old boy in the Mission Viejo Park.

Anyone who witnessed the attempted kidnappings or has video or pictures that could help in the investigation, is asked to call Denver Metro Crime Stoppers (720) 913-7867.

Aurora police also provided a link with information where parents can read tips on how to prevent abductions.
