Aurora police: Fake rideshare driver tackles victim, steals wallet

AURORA, Colo. — Police in Aurora are looking for a man they say posed as a rideshare driver and robbed his passenger after tackling them during a struggle.

The incident happened on April 5.

Police said the man took the victim in his car to the area of East Yale Avenue and South Ursula Street in Aurora.

Once he arrived at the victim's destination, he demanded the victim's wallet and then tackled the victim to get it.

Police released surveillance images Thursday of the fake rideshare driver using the stolen credit Cards at a King Soopers immediately after the robbery.

The suspect is a white or Hispanic male in his mid to late 20s and about 6-feet tall.

Police are asking anyone with information in this case to call them at 303-739-1825. Tipsters can remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward by calling Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867).
