CORTEZ, Colo. (AP) — Prosecutors have filed more than 30 criminal charges against a southern Colorado man accused of leading police on a 50-mile car chase.

Casey Dee Larsen appeared in court this week to be told the charges, including six counts of attempted first-degree murder and six counts of attempted second-degree murder. He has not entered a plea.

The March 10 chase began in Dolores County when sheriff’s deputies tried to stop Larsen related to a burglary report. Authorities say Larsen fled south until a state trooper was able to stop the van.

The Cortez Journal reports that the attempted murder charges allege that Larsen’s driving endangered the lives of law enforcement trying to stop the van.

Police have said two Montezuma County sheriff’s deputies broke bones from jumping off a highway bridge.
