DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. — Deputies are searching for a third suspect after an attempted burglary led to a vehicle pursuit in Castle Rock.

Shortly before 5:45 a.m. Thursday, authorities responded to the area of Santa Fe Drive and West Town Center Drive in Castle Rock in report to an attempted gun store burglary, said Deputy Jason Blanchard with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies started to patrol the area and one witnessed the suspects and started a vehicle pursuit. Deputies used stop sticks and the suspect vehicle, a white Impala, crashed. The suspects ran from the vehicle.

One was immediately taken into custody. A second person was taken into custody after deputies used a K-9. Authorities are currently searching for a third male suspect who may be armed.

The Impala was reported stolen out of Denver.

Around 7:15 a.m., deputies were breaking down the perimeter to the area. A suspect was still on the loose, Blanchard said, but they do believe he is in the area any more. Police said the suspect could be armed because they expected to find a shotgun in the Impala and were not able to locate it.

The investigation is ongoing.
