LITTLETON, Colo. — Police arrested a Lakewood middle school assistant principal for allegedly providing alcohol to a person under the age of 21, Littleton police said Monday.

Michael Pate, 38, was arrested Friday morning at his home in Littleton. He was the assistant principal at Carmody Middle School in Lakewood.

Pate is accused of providing alcoholic beverages to an underage male and is facing a felony charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Police did not provide a booking photo as of Monday evening.

School officials said in a letter to parents that the incident is not "connected to our school or to any of our current Carmody students." Details surrounding the allegations that led to the arrest have not been released.

Police said they are investigating Pate's interactions with other underage individuals.

A spokesperson for the Jefferson County School District said Pate has resigned from his position at Carmody Middle School after the district placed him on administrative leave.
