Armed man chases burglars, holds one at gunpoint in Fountain

FOUNTAIN, Colo. -- A man in Fountain took matters into his own hands Sunday when he heard his garage door opening at 5 a.m.

Mark Plaskett told KRDO-TV he ran outside with a flashlight and a gun and three cars drove off.

"I heard them shoot a couple of rounds in my direction so I hopped in my car with my gun and took off after them," Plaskett said.

Plaskett said he chased the criminals and caught one of the cars in a dead end.

"I got out of my car and I yelled at them, 'get on the ground, get on the ground, get out of the car!'," Plaskett said.

Plaskett said he held a 16-year-old suspect at gunpoint until police arrived.
