ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. — An Arapahoe County Sheriff’s deputy has been arrested on three counts of sexual assault on a child by a person in position of trust, according to a release from the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.
John Beck was arrested over the weekend by the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office. Details surrounding the deputy’s arrest have not been released.
Beck, who's been employed with the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office since January 2009, has been placed on leave without pay, according to the release.
The sheriff's office says Beck was a non-certified deputy sheriff serving in the detention facility.
In a statement, Arapahoe County Sheriff Dave Walcher said he was “disgusted” by the nature of the allegations.
“Should the allegations prove to be true, his actions have not only forever impacted the lives of the victims; they have also cast a shadow on the great work our staff does every day in service to our community,” Walcher said in the release.
The sheriff’s office said that at no time during Beck’s employment at the agency did he have any interaction with juveniles.
