THORNTON, Colo. — Another smash-and-grab in Thornton on Monday has the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms searching for answers.
Police say alarms rang out at 2 a.m. when the driver of a jeep rammed into the Cabela's on 14050 Lincoln Street in order to pilfer guns from the outdoors retailer.
When officers hit the scene, they found a white Jeep Cherokee driven through the doors, but found no suspects inside. Again, they had escaped the law.
Inside the store, 50 guns were stolen from smashed display cases.
Police say this is the latest of a string in the region, including several recent similar burglaries in Thornton itself. Retailers are left beefing up their security at a cost to their bottom line.
In order to help solve the string of crimes, the ATF is offering up to $10,000 for information leading to any arrests.
Anybody with information is asked to call police at 720-977-5069.
