DENVER -- Four children who were reportedly taken by their non-custodial mother in Wyoming and whose disappearance led authorities to issue an Amber Alert have been found safe.
Residents across the Denver metro were notified at around 7:05 p.m. Friday via an Amber Alert on their phones that Stacia Potter-Norris, 30, had reportedly abducted her four children out of Fremont County, Wyo. The four children, along with Potter-Norries, were last seen Sunday, April 5.
The woman was believed to be traveling through Colorado on her way to California on a 2018 Dodge Journey with Wyoming license plates 104-087.
A citizen of Greenwood Village reported an abandoned vehicle matching that description north of the Motel 6 located at 9201 East Arapahoe Road.
Officers with the Greenwood Village Police Department responded to the area and searched the Motel 6, which led them to finding the four children in one of the hotel rooms at approximately 9:40 p.m., according to a news release from the police department. The children were found safe and unharmed.
Potter-Norris was not found and her whereabouts are currently unknown.
This is an ongoing investigation.
