THORNTON, Colo. – An Amber Alert for a 2-year-old girl in Thornton who was last seen with her mother has been canceled after the child was found safe in Nebraska, Colorado Bureau of Investigation officials said Thursday evening.

Thornton police said the child was found in Saline County, Nebraska - more than 470 miles from where they were last seen, in the area of 136th Avenue and Holly Street.

The girl's mother, 47-year-old Donetta Phipps was taken into custody.

Phipps was under a District Court order to relinquish the child to a relative at the Thornton Police Department at 1 p.m. but failed to do so, according to a Thornton police department spokesperson.

Police said they were concerned the child was in "imminent physical and emotional danger."

Both mother and child were said to be possibly traveling in a 2012 black Nissan Pathfinder with Colorado license plate 204-NKQ.

The Amber Alert was canceled at 9:58 p.m., a little more than two hours after it was first issued.
