ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — One of the two brothers arrested last week for child sexual exploitation was leading a different life than what is alleged to have gone on inside the pair's Englewood home.

The two brothers, 61-year-old Timothy Alberts and 65-year-old Daniel Alberts, were arrested April 14 after police say they found child pornography and children’s underwear inside the home amidst piles of junk and filth.

The two men are also facing elder abuse charges for the alleged neglect of their elderly father who was living in the brother's home.

Timothy, the older brother, was an active volunteer in the community, helping those down on their luck at Giving Heart.

The organization's program director says they knew about Tim offering his home for those who didn't have a place to go.

Amanda McGuire and her boyfriend stayed in the brother's shed along with two other friends for a couple of months.

McGuire says she never went inside the home, but says she once got a glimpse.

“The entire place is like a junkyard. There were rat droppings everywhere inside the house. There was just an ungodly odor, stuff piled up everywhere,” said McGuire.

McGuire says she was alarmed by how upset Tim had gotten when she and her boyfriend cleaned up the shed they were staying in.

McGuire says they knew something wasn’t adding up when they discovered children’s clothing while cleaning.

“We found boys underwear and ripped clothing,” said McGuire.

Boys underwear were also found inside the house, but no children lived there. Child pornography was also recovered at the house.

When police questioned the two brothers, they admitted they liked boys ages 8 to 13, according to police documents.

Prosecutors are charging two Englewood brothers with 12 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Childand one count of being a Habitual Sex Offender against Children.
