LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Police in Lakewood are investigating if two overnight stabbings that took place no more than half-a-mile apart are related in any way.

Several calls came in to the Lakewood Police Department just after midnight, reporting a man was being stabbed near the Lakewood Heritage Center.

Witnesses told police two men were at Belmar Park when another approached them and stabbed one of them multiple times before leaving the scene on foot. The victim was taken to the hospital; his condition is unknown.

The suspect was described as either a White or Hispanic man in his late teens or early 20s, measuring approximately 6 feet tall and 150 pounds with short, black hair. Police said the suspect had no facial hair and was last seen wearing a black hoodie with some sort of emblem on it and black pants.

Just before 7 a.m., police received another call from a person who had been walking in Belmar Park, and who reported they had found a deceased man at the Colorado Firefighters Memorial.

When agents arrived at the scene, they found the man had been stabbed to death. The man’s identity has not been released.

“At this time, it’s still unclear if these two incidents are related,” a spokesperson for the Lakewood Police Department said in a news release.
