Man injured after Pueblo officer-involved shooting

A Pueblo officer-involved shooting is under investigation after one officer fired their gun at a car theft suspect, according to the Pueblo Police Department.

Police said the shooting happened in Eastwood Heights around 3 a.m. in the 1200 block of Deane Lane after officers discovered a truck stolen out of Colorado Springs.

The department said officers went to the truck when its brake lights turned on and they found two people were in the vehicle. Police said one of two responding officers then fired their gun and hit one of the suspects.

No officers were injured, but one man is in the hospital with a gunshot wound, according to police.

The 10th Judicial District Critical Incident Team was activated and is conducting the incident investigation. The CIT includes members of the Pueblo Police Department, Colorado State Patrol, the Pueblo County District Attorney’s Office, the Colorado Bureau of Investigations and the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office.

Pueblo Police said body camera and dash camera footage are being reviewed and investigated.
