Colorado Springs man suspected of killing dog, two others seized from home

Surviving dogs will soon be up for adoption

The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region said a Colorado Springs man confessed to strangling his dog and cutting its throat last month.

Authorities said Rowland Trevino is facing a felony charge of aggravated cruelty to animals. Authorities said they responded to his home on July 28 when they received a tip from a neighbor that a man killed his dog and buried it in the backyard.

Animal law enforcement investigated and recovered the dog's body. A necropsy showed signs of strangulation and severing of the throat. Animal law enforcement seized two other dogs from Trevino, those animals will be made available for adoption at a transfer partner of the humane society.
