BOULDER, Colo. — Boulder County officials are reminding people to bring face coverings to county open space areas.
Face coverings are required to be worn at trailheads, when passing others on trails and any other time when a six-foot distance is not possible between other people.
"It's completely acceptable to lower them for comfort, but have them ready to cover mouth and nose when encountering other visitors," a county news release said Thursday.
"Many residents don't feel safe visiting the trails right now because so few people are wearing masks when they get close to each other," Eric Lane, director of Boulder County Parks and Open Space, said in the release. "Everyone should feel welcome and safe when recreating on open space, especially our most vulnerable residents. It's such an important resource for mental and physical health in these challenging times."
Boulder County has extended the county-wide order requiring masks in public places through July.
