DENVER -- Residents living in a condominium complex say their trash hasn’t been picked up in weeks and it’s attracting animals.
“We’re really scared, our dogs are scared, they chase our cars. The raccoons are aggressive with our cars even,” a resident wishing to remain anonymous for this story told Contact7.
Every trash bin is overflowing onto the street and the smell is rancid.
“There’s cat litter, toilets, trash, there is a sink over there,” another resident who did not want to be identified for this story also pointed out.
One woman who has lived at Hunters Run Condominiums for 15 years says they have never had this problem.
She said she tried to call the HOA and waste management but no one ever came to pick up the trash.
“The receptionist kept promising ‘we are going to send somebody out’ no one shows up, today they only stayed for five minutes and left,” she said, speaking on the condition of anonymity.
Another resident, who also did not want to be identified for this story, said the trash was embarrassing and dangerous for kids.
“We have little kids running around; kids are curious, there are metal poles sticking out — definitely a health risk,” he said.
GFL Environmental took full responsibility for the trash not being picked up.
They sent us the following statement, although it didn’t explain what caused the problem:
“We have uncharacteristically disappointed this customer and since October 31st we have failed to resolve the issue. We are not pleased that the problem has escalated to this point and we need to do better and we will do better. We plan to make things right by this customer and we expect by the time channel 7 viewers hear about this situation it will have already been resolved," said GFL Environmental spokesperson Steve Caulk.
