A wildfire sparked by training on a range in Fort Carson has grown to 1,200 acres Sunday, according to Fort Carson spokeswoman Dani Johnson.

The wildfire poses no threat to any buildings or communities outside of Fort Carson, Johnson said. Two Chinook helicopters and 65 firefighters are still working diligently to put out the blaze, which they hope to be 65 percent contained by 6 p.m. Sunday.

Fort Carson has about 104,000 acres of land for training purposes, so the fire covers a very small area of the training ground, Johnson added.

Crews from CSFD, Fountain, Hanover, Tri-Lakes, Cheyenne Mountain AFS and El Paso County were also helping to put out the flames.
