The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for Tuesday and a Fire Weather Watch for Wednesday due to increased fire danger in eastern Colorado.
The Pueblo Chieftain reports that Tuesday's warning includes the Colorado Springs and Pueblo areas and will begin at 11 a.m. and expire at 8 p.m.
Officials say relative humidity is expected to be as low as 12 percent and wind gusts could be up to 35 mph. Those conditions combined with warm temperatures can create extreme fire behavior and rapid rates of fire spreading.
Wednesday's fire weather watch means Red Flag Warning conditions are possible, but the National Weather Service is not certain enough to issue a warning.
