COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Nearly one year after a deadly shooting at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs, the admitted gunman, Robert Dear, is still not competent to stand trial.
The judge ruled Thursday that Dear is "not competent to proceed" and the judge set a new competency review for February 15.
Dear has spent the last six months at the state psychiatric hospital. He was initially deemed incompetent in May after two psychologists testified Dear has a delusion disorder and concluded his mental illness is impacting his ability to stand trial.
During a hearing last month, Dear claimed he was being forcibly medicated at the hospital.
Dear is charged with 179 counts, including murder and attempted murder, stemming from the Nov. 27, 2015 shooting at the Colorado Springs clinic that killed three people and left nine injured.
Dear told investigators he attacked the clinic because of his anti-abortion stance.
In outbursts in court during previous hearings, Dear has said he was guilty and called himself a "warrior for the babies."
