Off-duty Elbert County deputy spots hit-and-run vehicle that injured colleague

ELBERT COUNTY, Colo. – An off-duty deputy in Elbert County helped catch a hit-and-run suspect accused of injuring one of his colleagues two days prior.

The off-deputy reportedly saw the suspect vehicle involved in Wednesday’s hit-and-run in Douglas County and immediately contacted the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office.

Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies as well as officers from the Parker Police Department responded to the scene and developed probable cause to stop the vehicle, according to message posted on the Sheriff’s office Facebook page.

The driver was arrested for the hit-and-run as well as for other offenses, deputies said.

No other information regarding the arrest was made available.
