A teen has been cleared of wrongdoing nearly six years after he fatally shot an auto mechanic during an argument outside a Monument tire store.
The Colorado Springs Gazette reports a jury acquitted Logan McClelland on Thursday in the August 2010 death of 50-year-old Bradley Blehm. McClelland's attorneys argued during a court-ordered retrial that he fired in self-defense when a drunken Blehm accosted his father in the parking lot.
McClelland, who was sentenced to six years in prison, had been released from custody after about three years and was nearing the end of his parole when a three-judge panel from the Colorado Court of Appeals overturned his 2011 manslaughter conviction in December, ruling that procedural errors clouded the fairness of the hearing.
