COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Have an extra seat at your Thanksgiving table? A Colorado Springs nonprofit is hoping you can help them out by inviting a Fort Carson soldier over for dinner.
Citizen Soldier Connection is teaming up Fort Carson soldiers with area families to give them a taste of home away from home.
The holiday meal is just one of the many things the organization is doing to help build strong bonds between the post and the local community.
"We have a lot of soldiers who are a long ways from home," retired Command Sgt. Maj. Terrance McWilliams, who heads Citizen Soldier's board, told The Gazette.
If you would like to host a Fort Carson soldier this Thanksgiving, you can sign up here.
The organization is also planning to connect soldiers with local families on Christmas.
