A wildfire has firefighters in El Paso County working diligently to put out the flames which started near a training range early Saturday afternoon.
Our ABC affiliate station in Colorado Springs, KRDO-TV, reports the fire in the vicinity of Turkey Creek is estimated to be about 500 acres in size, but no outside communities or buildings are in danger at the moment.
Crews from CSFD, Fountain, Hanover, Tri-Lakes and Cheyenne Mountain AFS are helping El Paso County firefighters put out the blaze. A helicopter has been requested to help and there is talk of asking the Juniper Valley wildland team for help as well.
Denver7 was not immediately able to confirm how much of the fire is contained at this time.
