COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- A gang unit operation in Colorado Springs this weekend ended with two arrests and the recovery of illegal narcotics valued at $186,230.

Police said detectives set up a perimeter in the area of E. Platte Place, near Platte Avenue and Circle Drive Saturday around 6 p.m.

"One of the wanted parties was observed walking in the area with two associates a short time later," police said. "Officers contacted the wanted party, and placed him in custody as his two associates fled on foot."

One of the men who fled on foot was detained a short time later, but another man got into a car and drove off.

Police said there was a short chase, until the man turned onto a dead end street.

"The suspect fled his vehicle on foot and took shelter in a nearby apartment," police said. "The apartment was contained, and the suspect eventually complied with directives to exit the apartment."

Police said they found five firearms, 1.02 pounds of methamphetamine, 5.9 grams of marijuana, and $1,350.00 dollars in U.S. currency.

"The illegal narcotics had an estimated combined street value of $186,230," police said.

Caleb Collins, 29, was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant, police said.

David Rivera, 36, was arrested on suspicion of possession of weapons by previous offender, possession of Schedule II narcotics and special offenses, police said.

The third suspect was later released, according to KKTV.
