A 90-year-old woman was robbed Monday after she let a man into her home who said he was a city worker.
The woman told police a man rang her doorbell and announced himself as an employee of the “Colorado Springs Water Department."
The woman let the man in and allowed him to check her basement. The victim told police the man was in her home for about 20 minutes checking her water heater and pipes. She also said that while he was working, he was on the phone with someone else.
After the man left, the woman told police she found $14,000 worth of jewelry missing from her bedroom.
"It is believed a second suspect was working in concert with the first and entered the home while the first distracted the victim in the basement," Colorado Springs Police said.
The first suspect is described as a short, white man in his early 30s. The woman said he had short brown hair, no facial hair, no tattoos or scars and was wearing wearing grey pants, long sleeve grey shirt with a patch on the shirt. There's no description for the burglar.
