An 8-year-old boy escaped at attempted kidnapping Wednesday night.

The boy was walking home from a friend's house in Colorado Springs at 5:43 p.m. when he said a man in a large, white van pulled up next to him and tried to get him in the van.

"The child told the suspect that he does not talk to strangers and walked away," Colorado Springs Police said.

However, officers said the man followed the child and kept trying to get him to into the van.

"The child was able to get to his friend's house and the suspect drove away," police said.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic or light-skinned black man, approximately 20-30 years old with short dark hair with a visible tattoo on his upper left arm. The man was driving a large, white van with tinted windows.
